Web Developer in Denver, Colorado - PHP ProgrammerWebsite development by a mature, business savvy, English speaking, Denver area web developer and PHP / MySQL programmer. More than ten years experience developing, or locating, cost effective, practical Internet solutions for the small businesses and individuals. Basic small business websites starting at $500, plus annual Linux/cPanel web hosting and/or site maintenance. Optional/Additional: $150 initial on-site consultation (C.O.D. within in the Denver metro area). I currently provide web hosting and email service to about 60 small businesses. I can set up and provide you with high quality Linux based web site hosting with cPanel, PHP, MySQL™ database, and Fantastico. Annual website hosting rates begin at $100 per year. I maintain a Hosting Reseller account with one of the country's largest and best web hosts, located in a state-of-the-art data center in Texas. If you want to arrange your own web hosting, be sure to get Linux based hosting including cPanel, PHP, and MySQL. Most web hosts suck. Linux based hosting with cPanel is the professional route. If you often travel, or if your email requirements are significant, I can help you set up a free Google Apps account which offers email accounts having 7-gigabytes of storage, plus access to online Calendars, and shared Documents and Sites for use (only) by others having email accounts under your domain name. The Gmail Spam Folder is very effective, although you will probably want to scan the list of senders before emptying the Spam folder, as it may occasionally contain legitimate email messages. Google Apps accounts are available in two flavors: Free Standard and Premium ($50 per year per user including Google tech support) If you do not currently have a website, begin by envisioning a Site Map and compile an outline of required pages and sub-pages. In preparing your Site Map, visit websites operated by your biggest competitors. I can register a new domain name for you, or recommend a good Registrar that charges only $10 per year for registration or renewal. You will need to provide significant text content and at least one headline for each page, in order to become well ranked by the search engines. Develop page headlines which include words that people might type in the search box at Google when they're looking for a product or service. Avoid the temptation to use link text or page headlines such as "Welcome to the ABC Company website" or "Learn More" as they are completely worthless in terms of SEO. Be aware that the text you provide for website content may require copyright and/or trademark notations follow the item name when such names are displayed on the web (for example ® or ™). You and I are both pursuing website development in order to make a little money on a recurring basis. Don't waste your money by insisting that headlines always constitute grammatically correct English at the expense of being devoid of practical SEO keywords. Headlines should utilize words which people are most likely to use when searching for something at Google. Be prepared to either gather and provide royalty free graphics for use on your website, or pay additionally to obtain royalty free graphics. Many site owners are able to use images provided by their suppliers. You can't "borrow" images from an ulrelated website because you might get sued for copyright violation. The resulting attorneys fees would exceed the cost of buying a few high quality stock images. Search engines don't care about graphics, Flash, Javascript, or Web 2.0. The only thing the search engines care about is text and headlines. Usage of Javascript navigation or Web 2.0 techniques is largely a waste of time where search engine robots are concerned, because they largely ignore Javascript. I generally decline to implement Javascript navigation because popup windows are offensive to most people, time consuming to maintain, experience display quirks amongst various web browsers (Safari, Linux, MS IE, Firefox), and are worthless for SEO purposes. My websites use a custom CMS (content management system) in which I have invested hundreds of hours of development time, and deployed on almost 100 websites. The number of web pages that can be deployed using my CMS is nearly unlimited. PHP is the scripting language used. MySQL™ is the database utilized to store HTML content for each page. Custom web forms and reports can be implemented based on your providing me with MS Excel or MS Access files (for example, publishing a price list or product list, or gathering information from website users). Development of individual online forms which email the input to you and also store it in the database for future referance will cost at least $100 each. Form development is time consuming and tedious. If you decide to add a new field to a previously developed web form, the minimum charge for a Change Order will be $35 per field. (Requesting web forms will require you to carefully consider each required field and the subsequent validation of input from the end user. Let's get it right the first time around.) My CMS typically is initialized with a basic Contact Us form, as well as a basic eCommerce-type User Registration and User Login pages. Variable user levels facilitate displaying additional content to users having a security level that is greater than the default zero level. Site owners having minimal knowledge of HTML may be able to make changes to website content after logging in. Intermediate level experience with HTML is required to make significant changes to page content. No WYSIWYG interface is employed. The reality of WYSIWYG HTML editors is they are quirk ridden and often create more problems than they solve. In most cases, it is best to leave HTML coding to the experts and agree to pay a minimal amount for the actual time required to update content. Additional CMS widgets include basic database driven pages for Newsletters, F.A.Q., and a Photo Gallery, most of which will require some customization on my part. Image upload widgets, or general file upload widgets, can be developed based on specific needs. Addition of various widgets and/or web forms generally costs about $100 each. I sometimes create minimal PayPal / Google Payment sites but have no interest in doing eCommerce websites and credit card processing. If you're seeking a venue to allow you to sell a few products that are likely already offered by hundreds of other websites, try eBay or Amazon, and don't expect to get rich. If you're seeking a venue to deploy a substantial inventory of relatively unique products, it will require a transactional bookkeeping system such as that offered by CS-Cart.com. Gather together your site map or site outline, text content, the required images and/or PDF files, a down payment of about $200, and give me a call ... (720) 334 - 7850 Additional charges apply for work performed on non-Linux, non-cPanel web servers. All work developed initially on my server, and transferred to the final destination only after receipt of final payment. Credit cards accepted. Invoices for work performed are optionally payable online using VISA™ or MasterCard™ at QuickBooks.com. Additional charges apply where contracts or non-compete agreements are required by the purchaser. Satisfaction guaranteed in most cases.
